Part of the reason Oprah Winfrey is so popular is her down to earth and honest personality. She is very straight forward and tells it like it is; she is the real deal. As someone who has publically struggled with her weight, she has been the hero, the inspiration to many women (and men) who are in the same shoes. Even though she may be a hero to many, because she is so famous and wealthy, she is also under much scrutiny and analysis when it comes to weight loss and weight gain. Her latest weight gain is no exception.
"How did I let this happen again?" Oprah asks. She has recently announced that her weight has reached 200 pounds, and her BMI is at 31.8. This number places her into the obese category, and means she is more prone to weight related conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure to name a few.
Celebrity status has not made Oprah immune to the roller-coaster ride of weight loss and weight gain. The journey publicly began back in the late 80's when Oprah had lost nearly 70 pounds on a protein shake diet. Not eating an ounce of food for four months helped her to lose weight fast, however, since it was not a lifestyle that she could live with, she struggled to keep the weight off.
Realizing that being healthy is more than looking good, it is about being strong and healthy, Oprah hired personal trainers who helped her exercise and modify the diet she was on. Her lifestyle changes that resulted from this were great: eating healthy and exercising, however giving into fears and cravings have recently gotten the best of her as she fell off the healthy wagon.
Fear not however, she is an inspiration to all and will back in shape in no time, loyal viewers supporting her all along the way.
