Ultimate Weight Loss: Ephedra is Back?

I had some questions come in about Ephedra. So I have put together this short article to get you some info. Just to fill some of you in , Ephedra was taken off the market last year , but it is now back on the market and ready for consumers. This product seems to be the most wanted weight loss product. They cant keep this stuff on the shelves since it was given the OK to be sold again. Make sure you read some of the common sense rules below before using Ephedra.

Ephedra (also known as Ma huang, Chinese Ephedra and epitonin) is the worlds oldest medicine. The Chinese discovered ephedra more than 5000 years ago. Research has shown that ephedra increases metabolism and helps promote weight loss, relaxes the air passages in the lungs to help treat asthma and cough, promotes perspiration to help a person recover from a minor cold and helps promote urination to help relieve edema.
Ephedra has been widely researched for its thermogenic (fat burning) properties. Research has show that ephedra helps promote the loss of fat while helping spare lean muscle tissue, a highly sought-after property that prescription diet medications still have not been able to reproduce.

Safety Tips

As ephedra is a stimulant and a thermogenic, it should NOT be used by people / in situations where these properties might be harmful. There are some common sense rules about using ephedra:

Do not use ephedra if you have any medical problems as the use of a stimulant might overtax your system. Do not use ephedra if your activity / environment will prevent you from dissipating heat. Your body core temperature might exceed safe levels. And do not take more than the manufacturer's recommended amount.

What this means is: If you have a heart condition, do not take ephedra. And if you plan to wear clothes to raise your body temperature, do not take ephedra. And do not think that playing baseball on a hot muggy day will counteract these two common sense conditions and make it okay to take ephedra.

How Blueberries Can Accelerate Your Weight Loss Program!

We have all heard stories about how this person went on a grapefruit diet and lost 50 pounds, and that person eats an apple a day and it keeps the doctor away. Although there is no better way to lose weight than a well balanced diet of proper nutrition, there is one food that is very close to being a so-called superfood... Blueberries!

Just like grapefruit and apples, we have all heard stories about how healthy blueberries are. What we all want to know, however, is how blueberries can accelerate our weight loss program! Simply knowing that something is healthy will not encourage us to change our eating habits. We need to see an end result somewhere, right? Here are several ways the healthy benefits of blueberries can cause your weight to drop enough for you to take notice!

Blueberries have a magical ingredient called antioxidants. Antioxidants fight off all the free radicals that enter our bodies and wreak havoc on our immune system. This means blueberries are packed with healing power! In order for a person to lose weight successfully and keep it off for good,a personmust lead a healthy lifestyle. Another reason to consider blueberries for weight loss is that they are low calorie. Most fruits and vegetables are and this is not breaking news. Even though we already know this, why is it that we would rather grab a bag of low calorie apple chips and convince ourselves we are eating healthy? You think, well, calories are calories so what difference does it make if I eat 100 calories of apple chips or 100 calories from an apple? A lot!

Low calorie only works when you do not add preservatives, carbohydrates and sugars into the equation. You know real fruits and vegetables are healthy, so stick to the produce department. Do not trust the labels on any food package that boasts how fat free or low calorie it is. Chances are good that you will be falling for a marketing trick.

Blueberries are relatively low in sugar, which is another reason why they will help with weight loss. Sugar is not part of the vocabulary of someone who is truly living a healthy lifestyle. Sugar turns to fat and fat is what you want to get rid of. The more exercise you do on a daily basis, the more you can eat sugar because you will burn it off as energy during your workouts. If you want to burn fat, eat blueberries until you are too full to grab a Hershey bar.

Blueberries are also high in fiber. How does this accelerate weight loss? Fiber is the part of plant-based foods that our bodies can not digest. It passes through our digestive tract without providing nutrition or calories, but it is very healthy for us because it helps to keep our bowel movements regular and ward off certain diseases. Fibers greatest value, however, is in helping to keep us slim.

Fiber makes us feel full sooner and longer because and stays in our stomach longer than other substances we eat. Due to its greater fiber content, blueberries can be more filling than white bread! Need more convincing? Fiber also moves fat through our digestive system faster so that less of it is absorbed into the body.

I know that the first thing you want to do now is figure out a way to pop blueberries into your mouth all day long. Now you should know things just are never that easy! You simply can not eat a pound of blueberries a day along with your McDonald's lunch and Taco Bell dinner. Blueberries must be consumed as a replacement of high-calorie, high-sugar American diet foods in order for the benefits to take effect.

You can get all these amazing health benefits just by eating half a cup a day of wild or frozen blueberries. I lost 70 pounds in 4 months and have kept it off for 15 years after deciding to replace junk food with foods like blueberries. I throw them into a soy-based protein shake every morning and sprinkle them on cereals and oat meal when I feel snacking during the day.

The most important part of losing weight is having the mindset of knowing that the health benefits of blueberries outweighs the yumminess of a candy bar. Does this mean you can never eat a candy bar? Absolutely not. However, the candy bar should become the sometimes food and the blueberries should become the every day food. It is all about changing the choices you make...and for things to change, YOU have to change.

Fasting For Weight Loss - The Solution to Your Weight Loss Problem?

Everyday people are trying to come up with ideas on how to lose the most weight in the fastest way possible. There are an enormous amount of information out on the internet on how to do this, but there are also some information that are almost outright dangerous. You keep hearing about diets of all sorts and colors and you might wonder which work and which don't. Most of them rely on fasting for weight loss, and purely that. I am here to tell you if this is really working or if it is just a bunch of rubbish that will only put you in danger.

Let me just put it out there right now: fasting for weight loss does not work! There, I said it. If you have friends or others that claim they have done this and it worked for them, then either they are lying or they have pu themselves to serious danger. Not eating for greater periods in length is not healthy for your body at all and can in some cases damage yourself.

These days, its quite common that people want to lose weight. With all the movie stars and celebrities we want to look like, its no wonder everyone wants to drop a few pounds. What I can tell you is that it is not easy to lose weight, although it doesn't have to be as hard as most think. There are a few simple steps that can be taken to be able to lose weight fast and easy, without the use of fasting for the weight loss part.

1. Make A Diet Plan And Stick To It!
When you are going to lose weight, you need to be running on a calorie intake deficit. That means you have to eat less than your body needs in amount of calories to be able to burn away excess fat. Just calculate what amount of calories you need through the day, and eat a little less or add some exercise to your daily plan of things to do.

2. Be Consistent!
The thing with using fasting for weight loss is that its not consistent. You may be able to lose some weight in a small time frame, but it has a tendency to get back quickly. This is because you won't be fasting forever. When you stop eating less, your body will start to gain more pounds, and this time you will get extra fat.

3. Get A Partner
So you have a friend that wants to lose weight as well? Why not team up? Its easier when you can share ideas, plans, grief, exercise together and other things when you are going through this period. You can give each other boosts in confidence and it will greatly increase your chance of success if you are 2 people who are trying to achieve the same goal.

So that is the basic ideas. Choosing Your Best Weight Loss Program

Look around the internet, magazines, daily papers and check out the advertisements for dieting. You will be bombarded with a multitude of weight-loss programs, clubs, plans, methods and more. If you can imagine a plan you can bet someone has an advertisement for it.

Dieting can be and often is very difficult. We can all easily recognise the fact that we are putting on some extra pounds or that we are already overweight. We can all readily agree that we need to do something about it. When we start to look at solutions we are often overwhelmed by the choices available. Surely they can't all be right.

Funnily enough they can all be right, different diets, low carb, high carb, low fat, high fat and on it goes. When you follow the advice you can usually succeed, often it is not sustainable. So what can we do?

First you need to determine what style of weight-loss program is best for you. We are not all alike, our personality traits influence the things we do and how we do them. Some of us work best alone, some are great team players, others need a bit of both. Some of us need external motivation to egg us along and others can set milestones and reach them by egging ourselves on.

So if you work best by yourself and are self motivated then a slimming group is probably not going to work for you. You will resent the action of attending meetings and sharing your weight-loss data with others.

On the other hand if you are a team player and / or someone who needs external motivation then the group approach is often ideal. You have the backup of others to share the journey with and to give you a nudge along the journey when you feel like giving up.

This is probably the first step you need to take, determine your individual style. Take a personality test, there are online options or books you can get from the library, you can even go to see a professional if that is the way you want to approach it. The results of this will give you a good indication of whether you are best served by joining a group like Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig or starting on an independent self directed program.

Next you need to determine what sort of diet you prefer. No point starting on a high protein diet if you don't like meat very much, there is no way you are going to be able to stick at it. The same applies if you hate vegetables, no point in starting a plan that is almost all vegetables and little else. So take a look at the diet options that the plan is offering, choose one that you can feel good about eating. Make sure you enjoy most of the foods in the diet.

If you are the kind of cook who measures out everything precisely and follows recipes to the letter then a highly structured diet is going to suit you. On the other hand if you like to throw a bit of this and that together they you need a diet that is along the lines of 'a handful of pasta', 'a palm sized steak', something a little less precise but still gives you a good indication of what is an appropriate serving.

Exercise. Like it or not, this needs to be part of your plan. Once again you need to be truthful with yourself. What type of activities do you enjoy doing? Are you a walker, runner, team player, bowler, golfer, the list goes on. Perhaps you haven't taken part in much active recreation for a very long time. Think back to what you did enjoy. Give that another go. Failing that, try something new. Do a little research on recreational activities and if there is something that you think you will enjoy find out if there is anywhere you can get a 'taster' of the activity.

Tracking progress is a must. Is this a daily or weekly activity? Is it weight based or inch / centimeter based. Perhaps it is both. What is essential is that you need to give yourself some feedback. If you are the group person then you will get this at your meetings and you will also set your goals with the group and get encouragement from them. As an individual, private, dieter you need to record your goals and progress and put in place a method of encouraging yourself, giving yourself a pat on the back or kick up the butt.

Remember that a weight-loss program is not in itself the only goal, but the need to maintain the desired weight is. So you need to be happy that this is a lifestyle change you can always live with. The last thing you want to do is lose the weight, give up the diet and pile the weight back on again.

Losing weight is not the goal, maintaining your desired weight is.
